For organizations who are not using the Faculty Module, when you have a new option for a Custom Field that is used for a Group Message Board you have already created, you will need to update the Message Board.
Go to your existing Message Boards: Dashboard > Communications > Message Board.
Under Group Title, click on the link to the Message Board Group you would like to update. This will produce a list of all of the boards in that group.
Click on the blue button “edit group”.
The pop up box appears. Choose the criteria that you are using to create your group and hit Save.
Your new message board will have been created.
Scenario 2: A Teacher’s Name Changes (or you were holding a ‘fake spot’ until you had the name of a new teacher)
Update your Teacher Custom Field. It is very important that you do NOT delete the old name/teacher placeholder. Instead, you first need to ADD the new teacher's name to the list of teacher options without deleting the old name/placeholder. More About Editing the List of Teachers
Go to Dashboard > People > Student List.
Filter for all of your students assigned to the old teacher/placeholder.
Select the check box to highlight everyone that appeared in the filter.
Click "Update Checked."
Toggle their teacher to the new teacher’s name, then click "Update."
Go back to the Teacher Custom Field (Dashboard > People > Configuration > Custom Field) and click "Edit" next to teacher and go to the Options Tab.
Delete the old name/placeholder.
Go to your existing Message Boards: Dashboard > Communication > Message Board.
