Canceling a PayPal Account

Before you close your PayPal account:
  1. Be sure to withdraw any money from your PayPal balance. You can transfer money electronically to your bank account or ask PayPal to send a check. (There's a $1.50 charge to send a check.)
  2. If you have an email address on your account that you haven't confirmed, remove it from your account before you close it.
  3. You can't close your account if there are limitations, unresolved issues, or a balance.

How to close your PayPal account:
  1. Go to https://www.paypal.com/
  2. Type the email associated with your account and your password into the labeled fields and click on Log In.

Personal PayPal:
  1. Click Settings next to "Log Out."
  2. Click Close your account under "Account options."
  3. Enter your bank account number if requested.
  4. Click Close Account.

Business PayPal:
  1. Click Profile.
  2. Click Profile and settings.
  3. Click My settings.
  4. Click Close account beside "Account type."

What happens when you close your account?
  1. Any unpaid money requests are automatically canceled.
  2. You lose any unused redemption codes or coupons.

Once you have closed your account with PayPal, you will want to disconnect it as the payment processor for your Membership Toolkit site. Account Owners can:
  1. Go to Admin / Payment Configuration.
  2. Select the PayPal tab.
  3. Change PayPal active? to No.
