Updating PayPal Account Owners

Updating PayPal Account Owners

It is important (really important) that you keep the Account Owner information updated on your payment processors!  This includes an email address that will be checked throughout the summer.

PayPal does NOT allow you to update the original owner's SSN that is tied to your account. You can update the account owner information on who has access to the account.

PayPal is recommending (as of January 2016) that your organization close your existing PayPal account and open a new PayPal account when the original owner is no longer associated with your organization. It is important to remember that you will need to have your new account verified as a non-profit to receive the non-profit pricing.  PayPal accounts can be opened in about 30 minutes, but it takes 1 - 3 weeks to have an account verified.

To update the account owner information on who has access to your PayPal account, log in to your PayPal account and select the icon in the top right corner to edit your account information.
